Starting November 21st, the Prague Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning (CAMP), located within the Emmaus Monastery complex, offers a unique opportunity to walk through a part of Smíchov that does not yet exist. Visitors can explore the future form of the new Smíchov City district through virtual reality. As part of the exhibition 'Smíchov: From Station to New District,' a detailed 1:500 scale model of the project is also on display. Visitors will see the layout of streets, buildings, and parks, and learn more about the planned transport infrastructure.
The exhibition presents both the historical context of the site and the specific design of the future district. Visitors can explore the urban and architectural plans, as well as solutions for transport, schools, and parks. The display includes physical models of the new district and its surroundings. Thanks to cutting-edge technology, visitors will also have the chance to experience Smíchov City through a virtual reality walkthrough using VR headsets. A rich accompanying programme, including regular guided tours, will run throughout the duration of the exhibition.
Public participation in the project is ongoing and is already yielding results: 'Discussions with Smíchov residents revealed that they would prefer a linear park instead of the planned boulevard, and we have incorporated this change into the project. Thanks to virtual reality at the CAMP exhibition, residents can already walk through the park today,' says Leoš Anderle, Executive Director of Sekyra Group.
Upon completion, Smíchov City will provide homes for 3,300 residents and 9,000 jobs. The diverse, non-uniform architectural design of the new district features abundant greenery, quiet seating areas, shops, cafes, and restaurants. At the current exhibition at CAMP, you have the opportunity to view a model of the entire district and our high-end visualizations, as well as walk through the new neighborhood in our virtual reality.
